The call you received may have been from one of the licensing companies. If
you purchase any film, even a feature film video, it may be used in the
classroom as part of a lesson with the teacher in attendance, sometimes
called a "face to face lesson." That's part of "fair use." But that same
video, unless purchased with Public Performance Rights, may not be shown
after school, for a film club, at a parent's meeting,etc. unless you have
one of these licenses.  The license is similar to what airlines have to have
in order to show in-flight movies, and depending on the company, the rules
vary as to how you can use the video. Some restrict use to after-care
programs. A few companies sell all their educational films with public
performance rights. (Films for the Humanities comes to mind.)

Any book you have not read is a new book ;-)
