Thanks so much to all who offered suggestions. We decided on another LCD projector so we could leave one in the computer lab. We also got a video camera, and several laptops for teacher checkout, along with a few other things. You are a wonderful group of people - so quick to help. I really appreciate being a part of such a great group! Frances I would buy digital video equipment: 3-4 digital video cameras, a computer with 80-100 GB hard drive and a cdrw and dvdrw, a couple of lapel mikes, and a coupe of licenses for Adobe Premiere. How about an LCD projector or two? I would get a cam-corder and extra supplies for your cameras and camcorder (battery pack, etc.) I'd start with some high end multimedia computers, digital computers, scanners, video projector! Have you purchased projection devices (like Appollos)? If so, how many? I would make sure that I had one for the LMC, one for the computer lab & at least 2 that teachers could check out for use in the classroom. These devices can really encourage teachers to use technology with the kids and can make great teaching tools. I would definitely invest in at least one digital projector (a good one) and one computer-on-wheels attached to a digital projector for mobility into classrooms. That should take up 1/2 of the money right there! Did you get a projector (In focus, CTX, etc.)? Elmo overhead projector? How about software? An LCD projector is a must! I bought a wonderful device that lets me control the computer from the back of the room. This is great with a presentation. It allows me to have the benefits of a white board on any screen, monitor, etc. I can send you info if you want it. I take it you have a CD burner, DVD player, digital video camera, projection devices, scanners How about some wireless laptop and a cart Do you have several digital cameras to spread them out among the staff. I only have 1 and often could use 3 or 4 Does each teacher have a printer? We went with deskjets in each classroom and a laser on the network. Works great. The teachers uses the classroom ones for color and the laser for other stuff. Palm Pilot for you to keep organized You are automated aren't you? Do you need anything for that. I just purchased Marc Magician and would love to have additional search stations and a new barcode reader. Have you thought about laptop's for student checkout? Digital projectors? what about emergency equipment... when your one and only *whatever* breaks down, needs a new bulb, etc. We've had a very interesting discussion on what defines technology on lm_net lately, what about low-tech technology? another smart board for the media center LCD projectors for any labs and media center Digital Video editing equip - computer, software and digital camera w/ usb in and analog and digital out - DVD burner Site Central software for lab - site license (web design software easy enough for grade 3 and up) DVD players DVD's How about a scanner? Digital cameras for every grade level? Software? There are camera stand thingies very useful in science explanations (gooseneck eyeball thingie connected to a computer/monitor -- when plugged in you can demo details on the eyeball camera and broadcast it to a larger screen for the class to see [you can tell I've only seen these things, not used one!]. I want to get mounted TVs for every classroom with a connection to the computer. I'd also like to have a several digital camcorders and a scanner for every classroom so that we can speedily document the children's work.
