Hello, I am thrilled to have accepted a new position at a preK-8 school in Florida. I have posted questions to LM_Net in the past while a student, and I want to express how grateful and proud I feel to be a member of such a generous, collegial group of professionals (no matter what the title and societal status, we are professionals). I have another question for those of you out there who are in or have been in K-8 schools. How do you tackle a bulletin board (I only have one large board behind the circ desk) for such a large range of grades and developmental levels? I have searched the archives for ideas but none seem to address only having one space for such a wide span of grades. There were some neat ideas involving photographs but due to the placement of the board, kids and adults would be hard pressed to see them unless they were behind the circ desk. Also, many of the ideas seem seasonal in nature, and fall leaves seem out of place in tropical South Florida. I considered dividing the space on the bulletin board for lower and upper grades but this seems too involved and without spending a lot of $$$ would look too jumbled. I may make a plea to move the board or to split it up eventually, but don't think I should make such a request my first month :-) Any and all ideas are appreciated!! I will post a hit if there is adequate interest.
