I have been very fortunate in my district to hold half day staff development
workshops on new technology, nonfiction database use, and even how to use
the newly automated libraries. The district arranges for substitute
teachers, or coverage by teaching assistants to allow any staff member to
attend. It's strcitly voluntary and has been quite well received. An added
bonus was that it bolstered my image as someone who has a grasp on
technology as well as printed materials.
