My magazine budget was cut again, and I feel I can not eliminate any more
subscriptions from my grades 2-5 school. There are so many good magazines
out there, but I cannot afford to subscribe to them.
A parent group came to me several months ago, asking for a wish list of
African American authors, biographies, themes, etc, that they could
select books from to donate to the library. After receiving several dozen
books from my list, I came across an ad for a magazine put out by
Cobblestone on African American History. I asked the parent group if they
would consider this as a donation. Sure enough - they ordered a two year
subscription for the library!
I'm thinking about creating a list of magazine subscriptions that I
currently receive and/or that I would like to receive, and to just
spread the word that the library is seeking families to "sponsor" a
yearly subscription.
Has anyone done something like this? Is it a logistical nightmare?
Something you are very happy with? Any thoughts, tips, comments,
suggestions, before I bring this up to my principal?
