While my magazine subscriptions for next year have not yet been submitted=
,
I am probably not going to renew. Price is a BIG consideration. While I d=
o
get valuable information, that information does not justify the cost of t=
he
publication. I just cannot justify getting a magazine that will be used
only by myself at a cost of over $100.00. I do get some fairly expensive
professional journals for teachers but in every case they are used by mor=
e
than one person.

For reviews I read The Book Report, VOYA, and the subject area profession=
al
journals that I receive (titles like "Biology Teacher" usually have some
book reviews in the back. I honestly do not find the book reviews in SLJ =
to
be very helpful for my level (high school). Both also have valuable
information and are advocates for our profession. They also do not have a=
s
much advertizing.

My personal 2 cents - SLJ needs to take a hard look at their publication
and it's cost. If a tool is out of reach because of cost, it isn't a usef=
ul
tool. =
