This is an interesting article I just got from another list.

Just what makes these people with no experience in Education worth so much
more than our colleagues down in the trenches?  This has also got to have
an impact on how much money there is for basic stuff like paper, pencils
and books.  I especially like the line about teachers who want to earn more
should take on second and third jobs.  You know you can always do your
grading and planning in your free time -- 2:00 - 4:00am.  That is if you
are not already on your way back in to job one from the "affordable" home a
hundred miles out.  Didn't take long for the "business model" to come into
play did it?
