Activities for Count of Monte Cristo

Do any of you have activities for the book The Count of Monte Cristo
that could be used in an 8th grade gifted language arts class?  The
teacher is interested in working with a small group of her students on
this - but would like a few ideas to get them started on some activities
as they read the book.  Thanks in advance for your help.
