I am the only library media specialist in a media center used by both middle and high school,=20 students--about 900 kids.I have a fixed schedule=20 in which I teach library skills to 5th and 6th grade=20 students once a week during teacher prep=20 time. At this point, it seems that I am stuck with the fixed schedule format. Besides=20 learning library skills, this is the primary time=20 for students to check out books for pleasure reading=20 and AR. My biggest frustration is the short time I have=20 (20 minutes or so) to try to teach a quality lesson each week yet still leave enough time for check out at the end of the period. I would appreciate any of your ideas on how to manage that time so that I=20 don't feel constantly pressured to abbreviate my lessons in order to allow adequate time for check out. Thanks for your help, Darlene Buhr, Library Media Specialist Viroqua, MS/HS, Viroqua, WI buhdar@viroqua.k12.wi.us = =20 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
