Our prekindergarten through third grade school has received a history =
grant. Each grade level will have two broad historical periods/themes. =
The steering committee and teachers' design committee will design lesson =
plans/activities. These committees will also choose books, software, =
equipment, web sites, etc. that correspond with the topic areas. =20
I need suggestions of materials to cover these historical periods/themes. =
Some of them will relate to just our community or Iowa, but others are =
looking at the history of our country too.
Kindergarten
History of Me (Family "Trees")
History of Children in Other Times
First Grade
History of Me (Family "Trees")
Community Origins (Iowa, of course!)
Second Grade
Immigration in America (Community Tapestry of Cultures)
Environmental History of the United States
Third Grade
Civil War and Slavery
Industrialization in America
I do have a book on children's literature in social studies, but it is a =
1998 copyright. =20
