If the automation process includes conversion, the company providing the service may need the shelflist to create the computer records. I automated a 6,000 volume library about 5 years ago with Follett, so the procedures may have changed, but I would investigate it before tossing the shelflist. Also, be sure to compare the cost of the conversion to the hours you would have to spend loading the data yourself, and the potential inconsistencies with records entered manually. Best of luck!
