For the conversion, they should only need the Barcode (that you stick on book), the assigned Call Number, ISBN or LCCN, Author/Title, and maybe copyright date (to help with editions if ISBN/LCCN isn't in their database). That would give them enough to search their database or LOC for the MARC record. The only thing else MIGHT be any local subject headings. That info could be entered in a spreadsheet, a table in word processor, or a database like Filemaker. Check with prospective companies on what they really need and what will work best for them. They may not even need a paper copy. Weed first, and keep a bin handy as data is entered. You will find more as you go along. I did retrospective conversion the second year in the building, and after 6 years still find a book that wasn't worth the effort of sticking a barcode on. And that was after weeding from 15K+ to ~10K. Keep some cards for emergency lessons for tests, alphabetizing practice, and donate the rest to the school staff. And check the archives for ideas about the drawers and furniture.
