I think I would ask ( very sweetly, of course) if the student that misses
the lesson will be available next period to do the work he/she missed during
the scheduled library class period. If that doesn't get attention, the next
time any of those students do come to library keep them after so they can
make up their missed work. Be sure to send a note stating that to the
teacher when the rest of the class goes back. Of course, have them, do the
makeup work and then send them back as soon as you can.

Subject: ELEM: students kept from library class

Lately it's become common for a couple teachers to deliver their class to
library with "some students still in the classroom to finish their work,
take a test" etc. I have to admit I'm a little miffed at the attitude that
library is a miss-able event -- I'm teaching lessons, too, after all!!

Have any of you dealt with this before. I should probably nip it in the
bud, huh?
