For country/travel agent powerpoints you can incorporate math skills by
including a budget and having kids calculate cost of airfaire, hotels,
rental cars. This is fun and real world. Also you can use site
pics4learning which has only non copyrighted pics - great source for
teaching media literacy/fair use etc. We always include a thanks to... an=
d
bib card at end of our powerpoints. Picture of creators on last card is fun
too. Digital camera and scanner (one pic per book!) are other sources of
pics. Storyboarding (fold a paper in fours - use both sides and you can pla=
n
eight cards) is invaluable during research stage in media center. Either
teacher or media spec. must hold the storyboards if kids are working in
groups - someone is invariably absent and has the plan at home. We don't
allow our students to add pics/sounds until all content is complete and has
been evaluated by either media spec or classroom teacher. I can't wait til
tech4learning site has sounds4learning. Ahh...network servers at schools
that can handle video/audio streaming........maybe I'll stay in this
profession long enough to see it..........
