Dear LM_NET friends Meg Schimmels post about the disappearing term paper came with a long URL that was chopped in half before it got to me. So I wanted to share something I learned yesterday from another ListServ. TinyURL will take a long URL and convert it to something small that doesn't get cut in pieces in email. The website for Tiny URL is http://tinyurl.com. The URL for the website Meg mentions (see below) was shrunk from 88 characters to this: http://tinyurl.com/4pp I think TinyURL is a great free site, so I just had to share. I just read an article from the Boston Globe May 5, 2002 called "The Disappearing History Term Paper". Seems these days our research expectations by teachers have shrunk. http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/125/oped/The_disappearing_history_term_pap er+.shtml Meg Schimmels Campus Support Library Media Specialist Library Media Services Wichita Public Schools "Knowledge is of two kinds: we know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it " Samuel Johnson - =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
