The November 2002 topic for Weed of the Month is: Short Stories.
How popular are the short stories in your collection? Are they used
only when required by classroom assignments? Maybe weeding out-of-date
titles and adding some new high interest titles will tempt some
students to browse and read this wonderful genre without that
assignment in hand.
A brief explanation of Weed of the Month for new LM_NET members: The
SUNLINK Weed of the Month began in September, 1997, from an idea
by Mike Eisenberg co-owner of LM_NET, and as an effort to help provide
Florida's School Library Media Specialists with guidelines and
suggestions for weeding their collections a little at a time as well
as adding quality materials. A section of the collection is
identified each month during the school year (September through May)
as a weeding target.
