Hello,

I am now cataloging the 400s section (hahaha... there are less than 20 books
that may or may not get 4xx dewey numbers. Not much of a section!), and
I have a question for you.

In the Abridged DDC, it says to classify "works intended to serve as readers
to help newly literate adults improve their reading skills" using T4-86.
Some of the books that we have are completely in French, with no glossary,
notes, reading comp. guides... nothing. So, I don't think that they are
intended as French readers. However, their only intended purpose in our
library is as readers... we do not have a French-speaking community that
will be wandering into the library looking for books to read :) In fact,
there isn't even a French class this year! So... I guess my question for
you all is this:

Is there any reason why I should be putting novels, plays, and collections
of French literature (all in French) in the 800s, instead of in the 400s
(448.6, to be precise)?

I just want to be sure I'm not overlooking something...

Thanks,
Karisa
