Students must have a pass in their planner to enter the library. Once at the
library there is a sign in sheet where students indicate the time entered.
If they leave before the end of the hour they must sign out (with time) next
to the sign in.  this has been useful several times for tracking suspected
hall incidents, truancy, etc.

In my high school, students must have a pass from a teacher to come to =
the LMC. Some come from study hall and stay for the period. If students =
are sent from a class they're allowed to return.

When they arrive, each student must sign in--name, time, and class =

Some teachers are now stating that if they send a student, they don't =
know whether that student actually came to the library. They want =
students to leave 5 minutes before the end of the period and check back =
into their class. I'd rather not do that, since it means that I spend a =
lot of my time simply signing planners.

What system do you use for passing students in and out of the library =
media center?
