Decades books for 8th grade Social Studies project

Hello:

I am a librarian in a K-8 school and the 8th grade social studies
teacher and I want to do a decade project with her students in the
spring.  Before they choose a decade, we would like to have them read a
book about the decade they might enjoy learning more about.  the reading
teacher has agreed to work with them third quarter on this.  We need a
list of appropriate books and are having a very difficult time finding
them.

Can anyone help us.  Thanks in advance
