I was wondering if you all could help me. I am working part-time in a used bookstore and my boss and I were having a conversation the other night about what determines if we shelve something in the fiction section or the literature section. Can anyone give me the guidelines as to what is actually considered literature and what is considered fiction? Did we, as librarians, say forget Dewey and just start our own fiction section? Help? The definitions I got from a literary terms book did not help me in my quest. I have not had a chance to look online yet to see if I can find the answer. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
