LM_NET Archive



Actually, Melvil allowed for fiction in his literature section.  If you look
at the CIP in many American fiction books, they will give 813.xxx as the
Dewey classification.  I explain to my 5's (4x today!) that for our
convenience we pull the fiction out of the 800's and arrange it by author's
last name.  In our (k-12) library we put the classic works (especially if we
have criticisms too) in the lit section so they are with the criticisms.
Seems pretty arbitrary tho.



Any book you have not read is a new book ;-)
