Thank you very much to those who have taken the time to reply to me with
ideas to discuss with my Yr 8 students. I have two more questions ....
What are the origins of 21 being adulthood and the key-of-the-door? Here in
Australia 18 is the 'legal' age for voting/ drinking etc now but there is
still something magical about 21.
What are some of the rites of passage of some of the Native American
peoples? We are thinking that there is scope for a compare/contrast
activity with those of our own indigenous population that will lead to some
interesting discussions.
