I have been rereading some old Newbery winners and/or honor books. I have been struck at the difference of the vocabulary in the past vs the vocabulary of today's popular books. Specifically the vocabulary in *A Wrinkle in Time*, *Jennifer, Hecate, Macbeth, William McKinley and Me Elizabeth*, *Thimble Summer* seem much more extensive than current writings. Incidentally as I read Wrinkle in Time, I thought some scenes reminded me of Harry Potter struggles. -- Mary Croix Ludwick, Librarian B.B.
