I have an Easy non-fiction section. In it are all the picture book fairy
tales, folk tales, fables, tall tales, nursery rhymes, etc. They are
labeled 398.... Any anthologies or books that are not in a picture book
format or books that have more mature content such as Golem, I shelve with
the rest of the non-fiction. That way the little kids have easy access to
the fairy tales.

Plus all students in my library know that the "Easy" section is really for
everybody. I read lots of picture books to students K-5. With the older
kids I am sure to read picture books with a difficult vocabulary. William
Steig's books are great for that. He uses wonderful words in Doctor DeSoto,
et. al. I also use The Polar Express and ask how many students have it at
home. Then I ask if their parents ever look at it. Most say yes, even
their parents like that book. Fortunately, most of my students don't think
there is any stigma in choosing a picture book.
