Gen: Do You Know This Movie?

Colleagues,

A paraprofessional came in today to "pick our pot" of brains.  She =
thought she remembered a black and white movie/TV Show set in India =
which featured a man-in-a-tent and a deadly snake.  A friend or another =
man comes into the tent, sees his fear and offers to kill or check for =
the snake if the man-in-the-tent will sign over all his valuable land or =
possessions.  The man-in-the-tent does sign them over and somehow the =
man checking for or getting rid of the snake thinks the job is done but =
when he goes to his own tent his is bitten and killed by this snake?  =
Ring any bells?
