Hi Lisa and Everyone....

I felt, because of my personal experience, that I wanted to respond to
everyone here about this topic. While I don't know of a lot of books,
I do know of several other resources.

I cannot speak highly enough of the Kids Konnected organization which
deals specifically with children who have a parent with cancer. When I
contacted them after my husband's diagnosis of a brain tumor, they sent
teddy bears for my children (even my 20 year old stepkids), books for
me, and a really good book called "Becky's Worry Cup" which I read with
my then nine year old daughter. You can find out more information at
this web address: http://www.kidskonnected.org/ They were very prompt
in sending out the resources, and it can all be done via the Internet.

Another invaluable resource for us after Randy's death was Camp Amanda.
This is a family grief camp (held twice yearly, for one weekend, north
of Des Moines, Iowa). The web address is:
http://www.amandathepanda.org. This camp inspired us so much, that my
daughter and I are now in the process of trying to establish something
similar near our home in southwest Nebraska.

After my husband's death, I collected a bunch of websites together
that deal with serious illness and grieving. You can check out these
links (and send me suggestions for additions) at this web address:

Hope this has been helpful. If you have any further questions, please
don't hesitate to contact me directly.
