The Seventh Annual Summer Institute for School Media Specialists
(Librarians) is scheduled for June 4-5 at Blue Valley HS in Overland Park,
KS.  (Major cross streets 119th and Metcalf).  The program is
"Understanding by Design."  This program developed by Grant Wiggins and Jay
McTighe will be presented by Elizabeth Rossini from Association for
Supervision and Development (ASCD) the first day, then hand's-on curriculum
planning the second day with Richard Soash from Cheny HS.

2 hours of college credit is available through Emporia State University,
School of Library and Information Management.  Advance registration at
<slimenroll@emporia.edu> or first day of Institute or call 800-552-4770 and
visit with Dr. Mirah Dow.

Registration costs are:
Single:                                 $85
2 or more same school           $65 each
Principal or Supt. free with teacher registration

Registration checks (personal or school) made out to Southeast Kansas
Library System, or valid school PO are accepted.  Deadline for registration
is May 16 after which meals are not guaranteed.

Lunch will be provided both days, and a block of motel rooms will be
available at reduced rate.
