Good News from NY

Hey all,

A few weeks ago I wrote to tell of proposed librarian
budget cuts in my district.  Many of you replied
giving me  advice and information.  Thank you all for
that! Our small group of 8 school librarians lobbied
for our jobs......we sent letters and documentation to
the board members and spoke individually with them if
the chance arose.  We went to work sessions and board
meetings so they would get to know our faces.  Well
the good news is that I just came back from a meeting
and they reinstated the two full time librarian
positions for next year's budget.....WHEW!
Unfortunately we will be losing a part time librarian
but we are thrilled that there will still be a
fulltime certified librarian in each school.  Thanks
again to all of you who emailed me suggestions.  Good
luck to all of you who are still fighting!
