I would recommend Marc Magician because it works so well with Follett's
program (although I'm sure it works with other programs also--- it just
seems that Follett and Marc Magician seemed to coordinate their efforts
better).

The tutorials are easily understood, the cataloging is very easy to
understand where the errors are made, and you can import and export records
very easily.

I normally get many of the book records that aren't purchased with the books
from the Library of Congress or our state's union catalog--- however, I also
check several local library sources to see how their records match our
cataloging to get the best record possible.

The only advice I can give you to get your librarians ready is to make sure
that you also have an up-to-date Dewey (new one is available through OCLC
website) and that your Subject Heading Indexes are current and that you
don't move between Sears and LC for children be consistent with one or the
other but not both....as someone who is changing terms like "Afro-American"
in the card catalog, it's frustrating when you're out-of-date and completely
lost as to what happened to your card catalog (luckily I can do a global
update through Follett and Marc Magician!)
