I too am unhappy with Scholastic. I have the same complaints as everyone
else. I booked a fair this year with Adventureland out of Texas. I was
glad to hear that one person had a really good experience with them. Does
anyone else have an opinion on this company? I live in Virginia, so
everything will be sent to me in boxes. Has anyone else had a book fair
like this and how did it work? I am not sure how we are goning to set it up
yet, and wondered if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks!

For 18 years I was a faithful Scholastic customer. I would hold one or two
fairs a year (a few years the PTA or another group would do a third fair). I
watched the service go down hill. I will not go into detail all the problems
I
have had. Finally, I tried Adventureland Book Fairs. I could not believe the
difference. The reps were friendly and aimed to please. The books were
current
titles and reasonably priced.....even the novelties were reasonable. I loved
the
idea that they deliver the books and set the fair up. They also provide
promotional materials----a bank for the kids to save for the fair (this was
big
hit with the parents), a letter to send home (translated into Spanish) and a
flyer that actually represents books in the fair. I also received a shelf
of
Spanish books (which I had a hard time getting from Scholastic) and a shelf
of
Black History Books. The company also provides a cash register---something I
was
never offered from Scholastic. I could not believe the difference in the
turn
out for the fair.....parents, kids and teachers were excited. Profit wise
with Scholastic I was averaging about $600-$700 from Scholastic.....with
Adventureland (I have had four fairs now) I am averaging $1200 -$1300. My
principal
was shocked. I was thrilled. I guess what I am saying is there are other
companies out there....I took a chance and have been pleased.
