LM_NET Archive



Greetings!  Our high school is starting an SSR program
in October.  For those of you who have programs in
place, can you answer the following questions?

1.  Do you allow students to read textbooks or insist
on solely pleasure reading?

2.  Do you mandate a writing component with the
reading?

3.  How many times per week/month do you have SSR?

4.  How long do students read?

5.  How do you handle/support the program as far as
books and materials?

6.  How do you evaluate the success of the program?
Do you collect any data?  If so, what?

7.  How do you get teacher buy-in?

8.  Any other comments you feel would help?

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy
schedule to help me with this.  My principal has
placed me in charge of the program (3,000 students,
200 teachers), so I'm trying to be prepared and gather
as much information as I can!  Have a great day!
