I have not been following this thread but we have study hall classes and the way we
work it here is if the teacher does not accompany the students then only 5 students
can come to the Library without the teacher. Sometime I make an exception but most
of the time the 5 students who come are the ones that the teacher does not want in
class, so I have to deal with them. The principal is going to try something
different because it has been a bone of contention with huge study hall classes
giving the teachers allot of problems. Last year we did not have the 5 rule and I
had to deal with a whole class without another teacher. Also, the students put out
a petition to change the 5 rule but the principal did not go for it. Things are
better this year. I think they should just put students in study hall classes if
they really need it we have students that are not passing and are in study hall
classes.

Hope this helps a bit.
