Dear Netters, I've been following the comments regarding how many students from study hall are recommended. I find myself in a rather unusual position considering today's library philosophy. My principal sees the library as a support for the study hall. Teachers may not schedule time with me or exclusive time in the library for research. No such thing as collaboration in this building. This is a middle school with around 700 students. Of course I didn't know that I wouldn't be able to work with the staff and set my own guidelines for numbers (the assistant principal must carry out that decision) when I accepted the position. Is there anyone out there in a similar situation?? How do you handle it?? Obviously the students who come regulary are not here to do research or work. Anyone????
