Dr. Carolyn Brodie on behalf of Kent State University's ILILE program.

$5,000 Research Awards Available

The Institute for Library and Information Literacy Education (ILILE) at
Kent State University is pleased to announce the availability of six to
eight $5,000 research grants to be given for research on the
effectiveness of collaboration between school library media specialists
and teachers.  Grants may also be awarded for projects which deal with
effectively promoting the integration of information literacy in K-12
schools.

Research projects can deal with efforts which involve existing teachers
and school library media specialists or which incorporate library
awareness into preservice teacher curriculum.  Projects can similarly
deal with developing and/or evaluating curriculum models which
incorporate collaboration and information literacy or which demonstrate
the effectiveness of existing models of collaboration.  You can also
use these funds to evaluate a project which you have already
undertaken, but not systematically evaluated.

Complete information is available at the ILILE web site
(www.ilile.org), but the application process is simple (no more than
ten pages) and intended to encourage high quality, but smaller research
projects which might otherwise not be undertaken.  No matching funds
are required and the $5,000 award can be a stipend paid directly to the
researcher.  Applications are due by Monday, January 26, 2004, awards
will be announced in February, and projects must be completed by
December 1, 2004.

grants is provided to ILILE through the Institute of Museum and Library
Services.
