TECH: Showing "movies" with LCD projector

I'm having trouble getting Real Media movies and MPEG movies to play
through an LCD projector.  I'm using a laptop connected to the LCD.  On
the laptop, I can see the movie.  On the screen, I can see everything
but the movie.  In other words, the connection is fine.  It's a problem
with the projection of the movie.  There is just a black rectangle where
the movie should be showing.

I went in and "played" with the settings -- resolution and color (16/32)
specifically.  That works sometimes, but then it just stops working for
no apparent (to me) reason.

Can anyone help?  I had planned on using some of Jan Brett's movies
during my library classes this month.
