I am on a committee (outside of school) that is republishing something and asking about getting an ISBN. Here I am, a librarian, and I don't know how one gets one, or even under what circumstances, outside of publishing companies. When an individual or small group publishes, what determines whether the work gets an ISBN? And how? I feel slightly embarrassed for not knowing. Thanks!!
