Tracy----
A reputable book evaluator can give her the market value of her books. She
will have to pay for the service, but it is worth it. The evaluation that
you get is what you will need for adding an antique rider to your insurance
policy.

Because I own books from the 1800s, I can tell you that 1900 books are not
valuable UNLESS they have a rare edition value, or a signature, or something
else that identifies them as unique. Books from the late 1800s usually have
less than $20 value/book, except for the above which will add value. Books
from early to mid 1800s begin to have real value. It all depends on the
rarity of the book, the condition of the book, and any idenifying marks that
make the book have added value.

Enjoy. Rare books have a unique feel to them. If you doubt this, bring to
your class, and talk about them, and them invite the students to come and
handle afterwards. I have several mid1800s books, and NOT a single student
in all of my presentations has mishandled a book. Now the mother helper on
the other hand.........
