Along those same lines --- I just started reading "The Losers' Club" a
recently published book by a Canadian author who has been nominated for
the White Pine Book Award.  Anyway, on page 3 the main character says,
"Some of us other drones will check out a book from the school library
occasionally, if only to get a smile from Ms. Maculwayne, our intensely
gorgeous librarian.  She is the pinnacle of grace and beauty at Marshall
McLuhan High.  I've seen guys struggle with piles of books they have no
intention of reading for the sole purpose of impressing her."  How's that
for breaking the stereotype??
