Somebody in Netland knows the answer to this . . .

I have just recently learned how to play DVDs on my computer, and I have
noticed the very few movies I've watched so far have all been very dark, to
the point where I feel like I'm missing out. Is this the current style in
movies? I admit to being behind the times in these things! Is there some
kind of adjustment I can make on my computer just with these movies? Photos
and such look normal on my computer, so I don't think the color needs to be
adjusted for anything else.

If it's useful, the computer runs Windows ME.

While you techies are here, maybe you could tell me why recently my TV
channel 3, which is not supposed to be picking up anything (it's the one we
use for satellite and videos) has begun carrying channel 27 much more clearly
than I would prefer? I expect to be hearing some very curious questions soon
from my 5-year-old if this keeps up! Some of these shows are not the kind I
allow her to watch!

Thanks,
