Next year we will be installing an NT system and the students will be
required to log in to the computers individually. Presently, there is a
generic log-in when the computers first come on. Because of our 5 year
Technology Development Plan we have to track usage. I have them sign a
check-in sheet with columns for each computer which also allows me to know
who is on each computer and what time they were on.

What I need are some nuts and bolts ideas. I will still need to track
usage. I will have to present a couple of ideas to my principal about "How"
I am going to implement this. I know, from other postings, that some of you
have them use their student IDs. It would be very helpful if I had some
info from any school that is doing something similar.

So, what I need are the how's and what's -
What is your procedure (do they just show their Id, do you scan it, do you
keep it?)
How do you track usage (is it in the same system as the check out of books,
do you have them sign a sheet, do you do hash marks, etc.)

Any help will be greatly appreciated. If anyone expresses interest I will
post a Hit after I get some replies.
