Monday we're having "Read Across America" - guests coming to the library =

read in 30 minute shifts - mostly short stories, or chapters from books.
I've been trying to find a story someone read last year.  It was a guy wh=
o
met a girl at a party & never caught her name.  He called her, picked her=

up, and never discovered her name.  I THINK it was a story where Dobie
Gillis was the main character.  Sound familiar?

I searched my library with no luck. Does anyone recognize this story?
