The best reading incentive I know from my experience is anything that makes a big
deal about the successful reader. I really like pictures in the hall or at least a
list of names in the hall. You can put names in the school newpaper, put names on
the school marquee, put names in the city's newspaper. If you can pair the
reader's name with his or her favorite book--even better. Change the names or
pictures at least once a month--every two weeks is the best. And, if all the kids
down come down your favorite hall several times a week, you'll need duplicate
displays on the hall(s) they do come down regularly.
