Good day all. The list moderator has given me permission to post this question to the list. I am gathering this information partly out of personal interest, and partly to help me evaluate potential articles. Please reply directly to me, and not the list. I will be glad to post a HIT if there is any interest. As teacher-librarians, what kind of collection development/selection tools do you use? For instance, are book choices made strictly from catalogues, is it handled by a vendor, or at the district level? When deciding on a potential purchase, do you use online book vendors to examine reviews, price, etc? Or do you use a commercial product for which you pay a subscription (such as Blackwells, Sagebrush or Follett) in order to evaluate the usefulness of a title? Please let me know whether you are a teacher-librarian in an elementary, middle or high school. I appreciate your assistance and value your generosity in sharing information with others.
