TARGET: School Calendars

This is a little bit off the topic of school media centers, but it is related to
school. One of our consultants is looking for feedback about school calendars,
especially if your semester or grading period ends before the Christmas
holidays. He wants to know if this involves an early start time for you. He was
also wondering how it effected other schedules such as sports, since beginning
and ending times for the school year may be different from other schools. If you
have changed your calendar, has it been successful? What are the positives? What
are the negatives? Do students/staff like the calendar? He was also wondering if
any school districts made use of "May term" whereby students can participate in
concentrated courses for a few weeks?  Any input would be greatly appreciated!
