I speak both as a librarian and as a personal friend of Franny's when I
agree that her books are truly wonderful--and award winning! She also does
fabulous school visits, if you're ever looking for a great author
visit. We have had her at Longfellow School twice. In addition to
fascinating large group presentations she also does writing workshops with
children of all ages -- and they are inspiring to both students and
teachers. Elementary and secondary schools have had great success in
promoting reading and writing with visits from Franny. If any one is

As for books with the same feel as Franny's, definitely try THE MOORCHILD
by Eloise McGraw and THE STONES ARE HATCHING by Geraldine
McCaughrean. Those are two of my favorites--and both just stunning on
audio too!
