Some of the McGuffy readers have been reproduced for "today's generation." You can purchase some of these from websites like: http://www.hstreasures.com/ http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0471288896/104-0117620-7506346?v=glance You might also check on eBay, if you'd like to have one but are willing to "haggle online" for a copy. In addition, depending upon where you are living, you can often find some "newer editions"-- around the late 1800's-- at antique stores, book stores, craft shops (those with antiques and collectible books), and garage sales. I have collected some (for around $10 - $20 a piece) that are the later editions. I've also passed up some just because I don't have more space to keep them. Let me browse through some of mine and I'll send you some excerpts from them. ~Shonda Brisco Trinity Valley MS/ US Librarian Fort Worth, TX sbrisco021@charter.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Johanna Halbeisen" <johanna.newsong@RCN.COM> To: <LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU> Sent: Saturday, July 19, 2003 6:10 PM Subject: GEN: looking for selections from readers of 1700-1800s > Ooops!
