I've been using Senior High Catalog and Middle School Catalog to check what
new items are suggested for specific areas (Dewey). This has been great to
keep up-to-date in areas such as the Middle East and in other areas where I
am not the expert.

I've also used Sunlink and various journals to select. (Specifically I use
the print editions of School Library Journal, LMC, Horn Book, Library
Journal, and the New York Times Book Review. Recently I've used Follett's
Titlewave program to narrow down the "award winners" and / or specific Dewey
numbers for books that have favorable reviews in these journals or other
selection tools, so I can compile a list of possible choices...obviously I
will have more books than funding but it's nice to have a "wish list" on
hand for later!)

Good luck! I'm going through the same thing....I think I've got you beat on
the oldest book in the collection...my oldest so far is 1869. My collection
is a "challenge" too!
