Target: 6th gr Emergency readaloud

Oh, wise ones,

The principal's secretary just persuaded me to take our
beloved benefactor, the woman whom our school is named
after, to read for half an hour to a 6th grade class. I'm
doing inventory, so the non-teaching time is welcome, but
I can't think of something really good for her to read.
She's somewhere around 80 has a good strong voice, but
doesn't get into characterizations.
