Several years ago I was in a different school. The principal had no regard
for copyright laws. She wanted me to rent popular videos to show as a
reward to students who had perfect attendance.
To protect myself, I wrote her a letter asking her to observe
copyright laws. In the letter I also asked her to provide me with a written
letter stating that she had requested the rental and was aware of the
copyright laws regarding such a showing. Of course, I never even had a
response to my letter. However, I had my copy of the letter to her in case
anything ever happened (hoping to protect myself).
I have told my faculty it is NOT my job to be the copyright
police, but it IS my job to make them aware of the law. If the teacher
chooses to violate the law, that is the choice of the individual.
