Disney American Teacher Awards

I happened to catch Oprah's show last week where she profiled some of this
year's American Teacher Awards winners.  I checked the Disney ATA website
to find out what the categories are and was disappointed to find there was
nothing for LMT's.

I called Disney and talked with a person there who is involved with the
awards, and, I'm happy to say, she told me that for next year's cycle there
is a new category under "Applied Fields and Others".  Under that link there
will be a place to nominate a Library Media Teacher.  Announcements of the
process and application information will be avaliable on their website at
http://www.DisneyHand.com   (choose "Nominate a Teacher") from August 15
through October 3.  Interested parties can also call at 1-877-ATATEACH
(even though the "H" doesn't do anything).

I feel like this is a small piece of good news for our currently much
beleaguered profession.
